June 1st, 2018 marks two special work anniversaries at the Fort Smith office of BHC Insurance.

45 years ago, Janice Butler started her career at the agency. She was still a student at Southside High School in 1973 when she took part in a program that partnered students with outside employers so they could get practical work experience for three hours a day during the school day.  The internship paid off and Janice started her career in the accounting department when BHC Insurance had less than 15 total employees.  During her tenure she has served in a number of positions including office manager/administrator. She has been accounting director for the majority of her career at BHC. In addition to that she has been very involved in human resources, mergers and acquisitions and serves as the recording secretary of the Board of Directors.

“Janice is a fiercely loyal employee who has more institutional knowledge than anyone in the entire building,” said Marty Clark, BHC President. “She’s known as the ‘Queen of BHC’. She has always worked with extreme dedication, loyalty, and care and concern for her fellow employees.  We are so happy to have had her as part of our team for so many years, and look forward to many more with her.”

Janice shares her work anniversary with Marty Clark. Marty started with the agency 25 years ago on June 1, 1993. He followed in the footsteps of his father, Larry Clark, who joined the agency in 1972 and his brother Scott who joined in 1990.

“I told both my sons, I don’t want you to just focus on insurance,” said Larry Clark. “You go see the world. There will always be a place for you if you want to come in the agency but you’re going to work in the insurance industry somewhere else before you can work here. I wanted them to get a taste of it and see if that’s what they really wanted to do. They did that, they decided to join and it couldn’t have been any better.”

Twenty years later, Marty Clark is the president of BHC Insurance. He leads one of the largest and most respected independent insurance agencies in Arkansas and Oklahoma with access to hundreds of insurance carriers allowing them to personalize insurance coverage for each client.

“The customer is the most important thing,” said Marty Clark, president of BHC Insurance. “At the end of the day, we’re protecting people’s assets, balance sheets, their lives and their health. We’re not your average insurance agency, we’re part of the fabric of the communities where we live and work and we take pride in doing everything we can to help our customers and their businesses grow and thrive.”

Congrats to Marty and Janice on their combined 70 years of service to BHC Insurance. We look forward to many more!
